Steelers Fire Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada Amid Poor Performance

Pittsburgh – The Pittsburgh Steelers have fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada, the team announced Tuesday. The move comes after the team’s disappointing offensive performance this season, with the Steelers ranking 23rd in yards and 21st in points under Canada.

Canada had been the Steelers’ offensive coordinator for three seasons, and his departure marks the first time the team has made an in-season coaching change at the coordinator level or higher since 1941.

The Steelers are currently 3-7 on the season and have lost their last three games. They are facing a difficult schedule down the stretch and are now in danger of missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Canada’s firing is a sign that the Steelers are hoping to salvage their season. The team will now turn to running backs coach Eddie Faulkner and quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan to share the coordinator duties.
